Unenforceable nonsense in Mevagissey - cars are allowed to reach the parking, but cycling isn't allowed?

New bus stop bypass on Hills Road Cambridge, complete with step free crossing.

Great to see quality cycle parking replacing a few car storage spaces at Cambridge Assessment.

The wheel still attached to the lamppost, the bike frame upturned on the handlebars and rear wheel missing. I'd guess that this is a classic case of theft of bike parts.

Abandoned cycle need to be removed from stands in front of town hall.

Despite quite long anti-pedestrian surfacing this doesn't stop some determined people using this rail crossing of the river as a short cut.

  • Icon 94288 There is plenty of space in the central reservation on Piccadilly for cycle racks
  • Icon 94287 There are never enough bike racks in this part of the City. There is plenty of Soace in Devonshire Sq area for more

  • Icon 93729 This area has many residents with bikes, who have to leave them in unsafe locations. Here it could also serve the local school.
  • Icon 93684 I've twice had a near accident on my bike when going straight on, southbound, from Rectory Road to Shacklewell Lane, across Amhurst Road. Cycles are not well incorporated into the flow of traffic and many cars turn left here (onto Amhurst Road SE-bound) without signalling. While cycling in the centre of the lane (to show I was going straight on), I've twice been overtaken before the car in question turns left, narrowly avoiding me (and causing me to need to stop to pull myself together). I'm a confident cyclist who obeys traffic rules, and even I have had my confidence knocked by these experiences. Could road signage change? There is no ASL at this junction north/south, which would also improve the situation for cyclists. I hope this makes sense, sorry about the lengthy description. I have no idea how many of this sort of comment you get, but if it's appropriate to contact me at hiljackson@gmail.com, feel free.
